| DHAKA — A former Bangladeshi finance minister credited with setting the impoverished country on the path to economic reform died Saturday in a car accident, police said.
M. Saifur Rahman, the second-highest official of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), was travelling to the capital Dhaka when his car spun out of control and veered into a ditch, police said.

The cabinet expansion was the second since Hasina took office in January.
The six new members, which bring to 44 the number in the cabinet including the premier, were sworn in by president Zillur Rahman at his palace. |

The decision forfeiting the allotment of the house given to the Zia family was taken at a cabinet meeting yesterday just after a week of the Prime Minister\'s call to the opposition leader in Parliament to vacate the house for the sake of rehabilitation of the family members of the army officers slain in the carnage at the BDR headquarters on February 25-26. |
